With better control mapping and integration with Ignite music creation software, we’re providing total control over your music tools while removing many of the barriers that slow down your creative process,” said Andrew Ramm, Director of Product Management for M-Audio and A.I.R. “This, combined with the products’ stylish and ergonomic designs makes Axiom A.I.R. controllers both highly desirable and uniquely capable in the world of instrument controllers.”

The Axiom A.I.R. Series’ name is derived from both the market-leading M-Audio Axiom product line and from A.I.R. Music Technology, the German-based developers of acclaimed, industry-standard virtual instruments and audio processing tools. The Series’ name signifies an unprecedented level of integration and virtual instrument control never before achieved in a line of MIDI controllers.

Each Axiom A.I.R. controller has its own unique characteristics, giving musicians a choice between four premium music creation solutions that are optimized for different creative preferences. The Axiom A.I.R. Mini 32 is made for powerful music creation on the move, with an ultra-mobile form factor, 32 velocity-sensitive mini keys, eight trigger pads and assignable low-profile knobs; the Axiom A.I.R. 25 is a hybrid keyboard/pad controller, giving beat makers and groove creators space-efficient yet comprehensive control with 16 backlit drum pads, illuminated knobs and synth-action keys; the Axiom A.I.R. 49 provides comprehensive control over any DAW for musicians of all types with an expanded layout of long-throw faders, illuminated buttons, backlit pads and 49 synth-action keys; and the Axiom A.I.R. 61 delivers all the same expanded features as the Axiom A.I.R. 49 but with 61 premium keys featuring TruTouch™ semi-weighted action for the keyboardist who demands a satisfying and responsive playing experience.

Each Axiom A.I.R. controller will come with Ignite, a new software with a revolutionary approach to music creation. Developed by A.I.R. Inspired new approach to music ideation & creation

A.I.R. Music Technology has introduced Ignite, a new software solution with a revolutionary approach to music creation.

Ignite is a discrete, standalone music ideation and creation software built from the ground up to spark creative ideas and enable musicians to build songs in an organic fashion. It’s not another DAW with complicated controls or engineering-centric workflow. In fact, it’s not a DAW at all.

With Ignite, musicians are set free from the rigid and stale interfaces of the past. Ignite conforms to the user’s creative process and represents a fresh way of thinking about music creation—a way that complements and energizes a musician’s natural workflow. It’s a whole new way of creating, capturing, and sharing musical ideas and compositions, the perfect creative partner for a musician. Ignite helps musicians unlock creative energy and construct songs in an instinctive and satisfying way. Songs can then be exported to a sequencer or DAW if desired.”

M-Audio Ignite music creation software by A.I.R. Music Technology

M-Audio Ignite music creation software

At the heart of Ignite is its non-linear Arranger, which replaces the traditional timeline and tracks-and lanes format. Just open the software, connect an M-Audio keyboard and start capturing musical ideas. Individual ideas can be snapped together in pairs or groups to intuitively construct entire songs. Ignite’s Smart MIDI technology assists in the creation of chords, phrases, patterns, and complex arrangements, and five premium virtual instrument expansions are included. All of Ignite’s built-in instruments and included expansions are based on A.I.R.’s professional virtual instruments, which were originally developed for Pro Tools.

We are very proud to announce Ignite. This is the result of more than a year of research and development, blood, sweat and tears. It is exciting for the whole team to see it come to life,” said Samara Winterfeld, Principal Product Manager, A.I.R. Music Technology. “We’re musicians who were never really satisfied with the music-making experience on any DAW, so we built Ignite for ourselves and for musicians everywhere who want to capture and develop their musical ideas in ways that are intuitive and inspiring. This first release introduces key features that are central to the product. We have many more new features in development and look forward to sharing them soon.”

Ignite provides an immediate outlet for natural music creation and ideation—its unique tab interface eliminates distraction, presenting users with all the tools they need for each step of the process and nothing more. Select an instrument, record, edit MIDI in the Piano Roll View, organize and arrange clips and more, all in a clean, inviting interface with straightforward controls and zero clutter.

With Ignite, musical collaboration and sharing are easier than ever. Its Sharing Tab includes direct links to SoundCloud, Facebook, email and more. Ideas can be shared instantly, empowering musicians to craft, collaborate and create songs together, whether they’re separated by a few miles or on different continents.

Ignite 1.0 is focused specifically on the keyboardist’s workflow. Beginning in Q3 of 2012, all M-Audio keyboard controllers will ship with Ignite included, and other brands in the inMusic family will include Ignite with select products. This initial product release will be followed by a number of scheduled releases designed to address the complete music creation process. These processes span content access, music creation, collaboration, finishing, publishing and live performance for both keyboard-based musicians and those recording audio from analog sources.

A.I.R. will unveil Ignite at Booth 800 at the 2012 Summer NAMM show in Nashville, Tennessee, July 12-14.

Hercules Announces New DJ Console RMX 2

Fans of the DJ Console RMX are invited to celebrate its worthy successor during the Hercules World Tour: It’s your turn

Hercules, the leader in mobile DJ controllers for PC/Mac®, is proud to announce the new DJConsole RMX 2, the newest controller and worthy successor to the Hercules DJ Console RMX. Available mid-August 2012, the DJConsole RMX 2 is perfect for fans of the original DJ Console RMX and the talented new generation of mobile DJs looking for professional gear combining performance, versatility and mobility at an affordable price.

Hercules RMX2 DJ Console

Hercules DJ Console RMX 2

Hercules invites DJing communities to live the DJConsole RMX 2 experience from a unique perspective during the World Tour: It’s Your Turn event, which will run from the end of summer until the end of the year, allowing DJs to practice mixing, learn new techniques, enhance skills, participate in DJing contests, and team up with emerging DJing artists to share their unique passion.

Generation 2

Over the past four years, the original Hercules DJ Console RMX has become the benchmark device in its category – a DJing controller for PC and Mac available for less than $300. Thanks to its user-friendly controls, audio interface featuring inputs and outputs and its metal case, the DJ Console RMX has been adopted by DJs embracing computer DJing that have now trained and evolved using this technology. Today, Hercules’ passion for this technology burns brighter with the release of the second generation of this device: the Hercules DJConsole RMX 2, the ideal instrument for emerging DJs to express creativity, work on mixes, turn ideas into music, hone performance and conquer audiences.

Exceptional audio quality

The Hercules DJConsole RMX 2 is the first controller in its category boasting a high-resolution 96 kHz/24 bit audio interface for Windows® (ASIO) and Mac® (Core Audio). For audiences and DJs alike, the device’s 96 kHz/24 bit audio capabilities offer audio quality and dynamic sound that are far superior to a 44.1 kHz/16 bit interface.

The DJConsole RMX 2 is a part of the current DJing trend allowing DJs to create high-resolution audio mixes, as a growing number of DJing software applications (VirtualDJ® 8, Traktor® Pro, Ableton) become compatible with a 96 KHz/24 bit resolution. The Mastered for iTunes program provides a number of 96 kHz/24 bit digital audio tracks, and computers running Mac OS and Windows 7 64-bit can handle this resolution without increasing latency.

DJs wishing to distribute their music as high-resolution audio files using programs such as Mastered for iTunes can easily create high-resolution music tracks with the DJConsole RMX 2.

The DJConsole RMX 2 features a comprehensive set of audio outputs and inputs:

  • 2 balanced XLR outputs suited to PA amplifiers, long cable lengths (balanced outputs help reduce audio interferences) and studio recording work
  • 2 RCA outputs for monitoring mixes or connecting hi-fi systems
  • 2 stereo connectors (6.35 mm) for headphones
  • 4 RCA inputs for mixing 2 external stereo sources, with 2 Line/Phono switches
  • 1 balanced microphone input (XLR/Jack combo), ideal for talkover applications, suited to both balanced high-end microphones and non-balanced consumer microphones.

A rugged metal case
With its metal casing, the DJConsole RMX 2 is a solid device that will live up to the most intense mixing sessions and transport conditions. Its compact measurements (35 x 25 cm) and limited weight (2.6 kg) make it ideally suited to following mobile DJs on the road; in addition, the DJConsole RMX 2 is provided with a carry bag.

Ultra-precise controls

The DJConsole RMX 2 features:

  • Pressure-sensitive jog wheels for scratching
  • 2 sets of 4 backlit velocity sensitive pads enable DJs to control loops, effects, samples and cue points; DJs can use the pads to trigger instant controls or, by varying their velocity, can control the sound amplitude.
  • The rotary encoder located in each set of 4 pads can be used to modulate the last control triggered on a pad after a hit.
  • 5 faders and 10 rotary potentiometers in 14-bit MIDI mode offer extreme precision for mixing. The cross-fader can be replaced with a Mini-Innofader® control.
  • Transport buttons featuring a supple rubber cap and a short-travel tact switch with a haptic feedback

A comprehensive software suite
The DJConsole RMX 2 will be supplied with two DJing software apps: DJUCEDTM 40° and VirtualDJ® 8 LE.

VirtualDJ 8 LE combines efficient mix controls with a user-friendly graphic user interface, and also offers 24-bit/96 KHz audio resolution. (Until VirtualDJ 8 LE is released, RMX 2 owners will be able to use VirtualDJ 7 LE).

DJUCED 40°, the new DJ mixing software, offers unequalled audio clarity combined with 24-bit/96 KHz audio resolution. It displays the mix in a streamlined graphic user interface, allowing DJs to concentrate on their music.

The Hercules DJConsole RMX 2 will be available starting mid-August 2012
